On the second day of the Paralympic Games in Paris, Róisín Ní Riain won Ireland’s first medal (silver) in the Women’s 100m backstroke S13 final.
Ellen Keane was narrowly beaten for a bronze medal in the 100m Breaststroke SB8 final.

"I'm delighted with that swim. It makes it extra nice to be able to do it with my friends and family coming to watch as well. A lot of my training group are here too, and for my family to be here, my three sisters who all swim, it's definitely nice to do it with them around." "I'm happy with the race overall," she said shortly afterwards. "I really love racing. Every time you get out to race you can learn something new. "It's a great feeling, but we have so much more to come, it's only the start for Ireland."
Fourth for Ellen Keane in SB8 100m Breaststroke Final The Dubliner who was nabbed for the bronze medal in the closing stages of the SB8 100m Breaststroke Final. Spain's teenage sensation Anastasiya Dmytriv Dmytriv set a blistering pace in the early stages and held her advantage until the end, finishing ahead of Great Britiain's Brock Whiston in second. Keane was third for the majority of the race but lost out by 0.19, finishing in a time of 1.24.69, with Viktoriia Ishchiulova taking the bronze.

But Ní Riain finished strong to hold off the Italian, winning her first Paralympic medal in a time of 1.07.27 which is marginally outside her personal best.
Fifth for Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal in the Women's B 1000m time trial final Great Britain's Elizabeth Jordan takes the gold along with her pilot Danielle Khan with Australia winning silver ahead of Great Britain's other duo, Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl. Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal were close to their personal best in 1.09.447, with their preferred events to come.

Ellen Keane has no regrets after finishing fourth in the SB8 100m Breaststroke Final tonight, having given it her all.
“If I got out of the water and I still had energy and still was able to walk I think I would be annoyed at myself,” Keane said.
“But there is nothing more I could have done."
